REWILDING EUROPE

Since the beginning of the new millennium, Italy and Europe have witnessed the rewilding of vast areas abandoned by agriculture. This phenomenon also brings with it the reconquest of natural habitats by animals, extinct since along time due to the overwhelming presence of humans. We have collected images of wolves, beavers, otters, and jackals, iconic protagonists of this rewilding, which has sparked much enthusiasm among experts but which does not protect these fragile species. As the case of the wolf demonstrates, unfortunately, EU policy choices seem to be going in opposite direction.
