We documented the work of a team of surgeons in Romania who are restoring dignity to Dancing Bears, animals used for years in street events and illegal circuses. Forced to dance to the sound of the violin and trained with cruel methods, they are now recognized as having the right to a life free from torture, but will never have back their freedom. "Our task is to alleviate the consequences of the mistreatment these bears have endured for decades," explains Dr. Klaus G. Friedrich, who was president of the SivasZoos association when we shoot the reportage.
